Financial
Support
As a local non-profit organization
with expertise in elder care, Resthaven relies on the support
of the greater Holland/Zeeland community. Community support
is critical in maintaining the level of benevolent care that
is integral to our mission.
Our needs are tangible, challenging,
and real, not only as an organization but for those whom we
serve. Medical conditions, the loss of a spouse, and cost
of frailty take a toll.
When one ponders the difference between our costs for nursing
care and the annual Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, the
amount is substantial. This variation is part of the cost
of quality that our residents need and deserve. Your support
helps bridge the gap. Your support maintains our history of
furnishing care for those persons who cannot afford the needed
level of Christian care, particularly those with dementia
or severe illnesses where long-term care can be exhausting
and financially taxing.
Over the years, the community
has stepped to the challenge. But the need is constant. Your
support is critically necessary. It's that simple. It's that
real. It's that important.
Giving
Opportunities
Annual
Fund Opportunities - Gifts to the Resthaven Annual
Fund help ongoing operational and benevolent expenses. Your
gifts help meet the daily cost of our facilities and staff
as well as the shortfall created by individuals who lack the
resources to support their care.
Your gift of:
- $50 will cover two days'
shortfall for a resident at the Resthaven Care Center
- $175 will meet the shortfall
for one resident for a complete week
- $750 will cover the deficit
for a resident for an entire month
Estate
Planning - The objective of an endowment fund through
estate planning is to provide a constant amount of support
in an effort to reduce the organization's dependence on its
Annual Fund and the volatility associated with annual fund
drives.
Anyone wishing to make a planned
gift to Resthaven is welcome to seek assistance from the Resthaven
Development Office. Various tax and income benefits will be
outlined, although complete information should only be shared
by a personal tax, legal, or financial advisor who is familiar
with your particular situation, requirements, and expectations.
Matching
Gifts - Many employers match gifts to Resthaven.
Contact your human resources department to learn whether your
employer has a matching gift program that could increase the
value of your gift. We will complete the matching gift form,
send an acknowledgement to your employer, and alert you when
your employer's gift arrives.
Securities
and Other Appreciated Assets - Gifts of appreciated
stock and other securities can usually be arranged very easily.
These gifts may avoid capital gains and qualify for a current
year tax deduction. Contact the Development Office for further
information.
Gifts-in-Kind
- Useful items of many varieties may help make life better
for many of our residents. Books, adaptive equipment, wheelchairs,
artwork, and other items make outstanding gifts and may qualify
for a tax deduction. Contact the Development Office for further
information.
